The Houston Airport System has welcome one restaurant each to William P. Hobby (HOU) and George Bush Intercontinental (IAH), both of which are the first of their kind in airports.
In the terminal at HOU, Buffalo Wild Wings® opened gives sports fans a place to watch their favorite teams while chowing down on chicken wings. It is famous for its Buffalo, N.Y.-style wings and 14 signature sauces.
“For years, the Buffalo Wild Wings Corp. had food service operators in other cities vying to get into airports across the country,” says Kenneth James, chief financial officer of LaTrelle’s Management Corp. “And when we approached them, they said yes because they thought William P. Hobby was important to them, and the Hobby staff is definitely ‘Houston friendly.'”
The airport says it is proud to have the new restaurant there.
“Hobby leads the way when it comes to customer satisfaction and service and our new restaurants have been a big part of that,” says Mary Case, manager of Hobby Airport.
At IAH, diners will find The Real Co. in Terminal C South. The restaurant has 11 serving stations and serves steak, jambalaya with jumbo shrimp, Chinese chicken salad and pastries. The concept is the first of its kind in the country.
“We operate two restaurants in Europe,” says Roger Schwandtner, vice president of business development of SSP America. “We are setting a new standard with this type of restaurant in order to offer a variety of quality food at great prices for passengers.”
Randy Goodman, commercial business development manager at the airport, says the restaurant has “exceeded our expectations.”
“This is another pilot project here at Bush,” he says.
