3rd Wave Of Concessions Overhaul Announced At MWAA

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority has unveiled the next 20 food and retail concepts coming to Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) and Washington Dulles International (IAD).

The new offerings, part of the third phase of a near-complete overhaul of the food and retail programs at both airports, are headlined by local restaurants and the complete redesign of post-security food courts near DCA’s Terminals B and C.

In addition to more dining options, at DCA, food courts in Terminals B and C will be overhauled. The middle of each grouping of gates, which currently include small cart-based retail and food options, will be redesigned to integrate dining, shopping and quick-bite venues that also should enhance the flow and cohesiveness of the gate area, according to airport officials.

“From the beginning of the Concessions Redevelopment Program at Reagan and Dulles, the airports authority has been committed to enhancing the passenger experience at both Reagan and Dulles,” said Steve Baker, vice president of business administration. “Whether passengers are looking to recharge themselves or their cell phones, we are providing bright, enticing opportunities with exceptional service for our customers’ shopping and dining pleasure.”

The brands coming to Dulles in Phase 3 include Bracket Room Sports Bar & Grill, Potbelly Sandwich Works, American Tap Room, Vineyard Vines, Solstice Sunglasses, InMotion Entertainment and Hudson. Coming to DCA are Tumi, Pen & Prose, InMotion Entertainment, Cava Grill, Bracket Room Sports Bar & Grill, El Central D.F., Lebanese Taverna Cafe, Kapnos Taverna and three food courts, two of which will be redesigned by Paradies and one of which will be redesigned by Crews.

MarketPlace Development is the developer for both airports.

More information about the concessions overhaul at IAD and DCA will be available in the October issue of Airport Revenue News.
