$5 Chow May Have Airport Customers Saying Wow

Travelers who are hungry and on a budget now have $5 options at two airports.

The Food & Shops at Philadelphia International (PHL) and LaGuardia (LGA) have begun the “WOW! $5 CHOW!” program, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The program, which was Developed by MarketPlace Development at LGA and MarketPlace Philadelphia Management at PHL, features nearly 50 restaurants and offers meals such as Jet Rock Bar & Grill’s “Eggs Your Way” breakfast with coffee;  chicken sandwich and large drink at Chick-fil-A; Tomato, basil & mozzarella sandwich at Cosi; or gourmet dessert with coffee from Todd English’s Figs Restaurant – all for $5 each.

“Now more than ever, it’s important to offer our passengers value.” says Lillian Tan, vice president and general manager of MarketPlace Development, for the Food & Shops program at LaGuardia. “The WOW! $5 CHOW! program definitely creates the WOW factor at LaGuardia, by offering delicious yet budget friendly food choices for the traveling public. We applaud our restaurateurs for working with us to create an affordable dining experience for our passengers. ”

In other LGA news…

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has recognized the Food & Shops program at LGA as part of its Customer Care program.

MarketPlace Development, the company that develops and manages the Food & Shops program at LGA’s Central Terminal Building, was given the Director’s Partnership Award; the honor recognizes a company who partners with the port authority to facilitate customer service.

“My biggest source of pride is the outstanding group of customer ambassadors like you,” said Bill DeCota, port authority director of aviation in giving the award. “People who know that good customer service is all about bringing customers back, and also about sending them away happy. It’s customer relationship management; it’s seeing our airports through the customers’ eyes and delivering services you would be delighted with yourselves.”

Paul McGinn, president of MarketPlace Development, expressed delight in receiving the award from the port authority.

“Their commitment to providing the highest level of service at their airports inspires us on a daily basis,” he says. “Together with the port authority, we have built a concessions program at LaGuardia that offers a high level of quality and service to the traveling public.”

In addition to that award, the port authority also named Belkys Polanco, assistant manager of Au Bon Pain, LaGuardia Employee of the Year in the consistency in service category.

The Food & Shops employee “received the award based on her polite and professional service, cheerful demeanor, positive interaction with customers and overall efforts to please customers,” says Lillian Tan, vice president and general manager of MarketPlace Development. “We are thrilled for Ms. Polanco, as her dedication reflects the Food & Shops’ ongoing commitment to deliver the highest level of service to our passengers.”
