Port Columbus International (CMH) has installed a 72-screen, high-definition and full-motion video wall in its ticket lobby, making it easier for travelers to read information about arriving and departing flights.
“Since the upgraded technology went live, airport customers have expressed how easy it is to view the flight information from multiple angles and how quickly they can pinpoint flight data,” says David Whitaker, vice president of business development and communications for the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, which operates Port Columbus. “In addition to enhancing customer service, the massive video wall offers the potential for increasing airport revenue through state-of-the-art advertising.”
The video wall, at a cost of $1.25M, features a 48-screen center wall, with two 12-screen panels on either side. The two end panels show arrival and departure information, and the center panel is reserved for airport advertisers; the three units can be synchronized for enhanced visuals.
“This is Com-Net’s largest video wall installation to date and it is clearly an undeniable focal point that Port Columbus can utilize for customer service messages and advertisers desiring to reach a captive audience in bigger-than-life high definition,” says Chance Fultz, Com-Net Software president.
Advertisers can use the wall to reach more than six million passengers and airport visitors each year.
“ComNet’s video technology offers multiple, programmable modes that can accommodate a variety of advertising formats,” said Airport Authority Concessions Manager David Saleme, who oversees Port Columbus’ concessions marketing. “With all its capabilities, colors and visual effects, Port Columbus’ new video wall possesses a distinct ‘wow factor.’ People will definitely take notice of the visuals and information displayed there.”
