Napping stations now at SFO

By Andrew Tellijohn
Powrnaps Sleep Stations, which feature single-occupancy pods offering travelers the option to nap in 20-minute increments, have won a likely six-month trial at San Francisco International (SFO).

Passengers will pay between $20 and $25 for the 20-minute session. The six stations will be in the International Terminal and will include headphones playing soothing recorded sounds and allow access to optional showers.
Leo Fermin, deputy director of airport business and finance told the San Francisco Examiner in a memorandum that the concept has not been widely tested in the United States. Powrnaps claims the technology will allow for an efficient nap by inundating the customer – seated in the pod wearing headphones – with soothing sounds meant to guide the person to sleep, according to the article.

The company is also looking at other busy airports, including John F. Kennedy International (JFK), Los Angeles International (LAX), Hartsfield-Jackson International (ATL), and Dallas-Fort Worth International (DFW), the Examiner reported.
