Turner West set to retire
The city of Denver has launched an international search for a new aviation manager following the announcement that Turner West will retire from the position in the spring of 2008.
West has been in the aviation industry for 41 years, 22 of which were spent in Denver. He began his career with Braniff International airlines, Texas International, and Frontier in maintenance and engineering management capacities. In 1985 he was named director of maintenance at Denver’s Stapleton International and later took charge of maintenance and engineering at Denver International (DIA).
He was appointed co-manager of aviation in 2003, then manager of aviation in 2006. During his tenure, DIA negotiated new agreements with Frontier and United airlines, opened the longest commercial runway in North America, brought Southwest Airlines back to Colorado and increased domestic and international flights from the city.
The city will hire an executive search firm to lead the recruitment with hopes of having the new manager in place early next year.
America opens post security kiosk at DCA
AMERICA, which has 13 specialty retail stores in Ronald Reagan Washington National(DCA), has opened a new 400-square-foot location at the airport. The souvenir and gift kiosk will be located post-security in the south pier of Terminal B.
AMERICA also has stores at !Newark Liberty (EWR) and Washington Dulles International (IAD), as well as two non-airport locations.
