Tulsa trust buys 12 acres

The Tulsa Airports Improvement Trust approved a $6M purchase agreement last week with Spartan Aviation Industries Inc. for 11.8 acres of land west of Tulsa International’s (TUL) passenger terminal.
Airport officials aren’t yet sure what they will do with the land, which is occupied by hangars, classrooms, administrative offices and parking on the north campus of Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology, according to the Tulsa World.

“It could be used for additional airfield access, additional land for (commercial) development, rental car parking or additional garage covered parking,” Deputy Airports Director of Finance and Administration Carl Remus told the paper.

The airport will pay for the acquisition with money saved from refinancing $75 million in 1992 and 1995 TUL general revenue bonds, which trustees also approved last week.
