Detroit offers Laptop Pitstop

As an answer to passengers who struggle to find outlets for charging cell phone and laptop batteries, Detroit Metropolitan (DTW) has created Laptop Pitstop charging stations complete with seats, shelves and four electric outlets visible through clear signage.

The stations were created by rewiring and converting unused phone banks in the Smith Terminal near a restroom and within hearing range of boarding announcements. It’s a better solution, airport officials say, than following custodians with vacuum cleaners.

“You know they are headed for a wall outlet,” says Lester Robinson, CEO. “Today all you need to do is look for the Laptop Pitstop charging station. It’s much more dignified.”
