Techshowcase Wins RFP At Raleigh-Durham

Airport Wireless recently won a 791-sq.-ft. airside space at Raleigh-Durham International (RDU) Terminal C for its Techshowcase concept.

Construction on Terminal C began in 2006, and it is expected to open in July.

“Techshowcase is particularly thrilled to add RDU to its portfolio due to the technology focused demographics,” says Ilene Berman, co-chief executive officer of Airport Wireless/Techshowcase. “We would like to thank Ingrid Hairston and the RDU airport authority for listening to the requests from their travelers and fulfilling their needs for a technology concept in their concession program.”

The airport serves as a gateway between the Research Triangle Park and the rest of the world. According to its Web site, RTP is a 7,000-acre development that houses 157 companies that employ more than 39,000 high-tech workers. The companies range from Fortune 100 multi-national research and development operations to university spin-outs and start-operations.

The first Techshowcase store opened at Oakland International (OAK) in November.

“The RDU store is a true in-line location and is more than double the size of Oakland,” Berman says. “The larger footprint will allow for a larger number of global technology manufacturers to launch and showcase their products.”
