AMI, SJC Announce Free Wi-Fi Service

Airport Marketing Income and San Jose International (SJC) have announced that the airport will offer the first free, full-service Wi-Fi program that has 24-hour customer support  and an optional virtual private network security in a U.S. airport.

AMI joined up with AnchorFree of Sunnyvale, Calif., to help offset expenses initially.

“The travel industry is clearly in a tenuous spot, experiencing daily dynamic changes that require service providers to respond immediately,” said Brad Jersey, president of AMI. “Airports need to look at new revenue sources, while passengers are demanding enhanced services.”

Clear Channel recently won an advertising contract with SJC; and AMI will get a percentage of gross dollars brought in through sponsorships as a strategic partner with Clear Channel, Jersey says.

“While revenue generated through sponsorship and advertising will be forthcoming, more important to Mineta San Jose International Airport, AMI and Clear Channel is enhancing the passenger experience,” said Brad Jersey, president, AMI.
