HMSHost Opens MVP Restaurant At GEG; Portion Of Sales Go To Charity

Spokane International (GEG) has welcomed the MVP Home Turf Sports Bar & Grill to Concourse C.

HMSHost Corp. is opening the restaurant Nov. 19, complete with memorabilia displays featuring home-grown athletes and sporting events, including some donated by former Super Bowl MVP Mark Rypien.

“Spokane International Airport is delighted with the partnership formed by HMSHost and Mark Rypien,” says Neal Sealock, airport director.  “Both are committed to excellence in their given field and have achieved much success and acclaim. The MVP Home Turf Sports Bar & Grill is the perfect fit for travelers from throughout the Pacific Northwest that utilize Alaska, Horizon, and Frontier Airlines, the carriers based from the C Concourse.”

Part of the proceeds from sales will go to the Rypien Foundation. The organization was created in 2004 by Rypien, who lost his son Andrew to cancer, to help families with a child fighting cancer in the Inland Northwest. The restaurant will also provide a storefront for the foundation to educate people about its mission.

“I commend HMSHost for its desire to give back to the surrounding community and we are honored the company selected us to support the mission of the foundation,” says Rypien, chairman of the foundation’s board.

“We had the opportunity to bring a new concept into existing concession space and with the MVP theme, we’ve brought a bit of the Spokane region’s love of sports and the great outdoors into the airport,” says Renee Tedesco, vice president of business development for HMSHost. “The new MVP Home Turf Sports Bar & Grill also will offer travelers a chance to enjoy a great meal and to know that a portion of their check will go to a good cause based in the local community.”
