New international service is landing at three airports throughout the country.
WestJet, the latest airline to begin operating at Atlantic City International (ACY), will begin service to Toronto, Canada, starting Oct. 22.
“The addition of an international airline at Atlantic City International Airport will increase New Jersey tourism and create jobs,” says Stephen Dilts, commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation and chair of the board of the South Jersey Transportation Authority, the owner and operator of the airport. “We are strategically working to attract new airlines and air service to the region, making travel for residents and business travelers more accessible and affordable.”
The airport will break ground in September for an $18M terminal expansion, including a full federal inspection station for international travelers, expected to be fully operational within 18 months.
Those looking to fly to Tel Aviv International (TLV) have a new option from Philadelphia International (PHL).
US Airways began service to Israel on July 7, with daily, non-stop service.
“Tel Aviv is an extremely exciting component of our trans-Atlantic portfolio and we’re pleased by the strong bookings our newest route is seeing,” says Suzanne Boda, senior vice president of East Coast, international and cargo operations for US Airways. “We look forward to offering this service and greatly appreciate the partnership of the Philadelphia Division of Aviation.”
And those looking to head south of the border to Mexico may do so out of Los Angeles International (LAX) on Volaris Airlines.
The airline celebrated the launch of its first international service at LAX on July 1, with non-stop flights to Toluca and Guadalajara, Mexico.
“Volaris’ service at LAX is an acknowledgment of our efforts to modernize our airport and our decades-long commitment to sustainable design and service,” says Michael Molina, senior director of external affairs for Los Angeles World Airports. “We are thrilled to welcome Volaris to LAX, one of America’s premier airports and the sixth-busiest airport in the world.”
