Valerie J. Harry has been named chief financial officer for the city of Cleveland’s Department of Port Control.
In her new role, she will oversee the department’s accounting, auditing, budgeting and other financial matters for Cleveland-Hopkins International (CLE) and Burke Lakefront (BKL).
“Ms. Harry was an excellent choice for this position,” said Ricky Smith, director of the Cleveland Airport System. “Her qualifications and affiliations are quite distinguished and I believe she will fulfill her duty as the CFO for the Cleveland Airport System with the highest level of performance and commitment. She is a good fit for this organization.”
Prior to her new position, she was the assistant chief auditor for the state of Ohio, responsible for daily operations of more than 64 auditors and three support staff, and then the chief auditor, handling and researching accounting, auditing and legal compliance issues and personnel matters.
“I am very enthusiastic about starting a new career with the Cleveland Airport System,” Harry says. “The director has articulated his vision of where he wants to position both airports and I’m ready to move them in that direction.”
She holds a business administration degree with a concentration in accounting from Baldwin Wallace College and a masters in business administration from Ashland University.
