Famous Famiglia, MarketPlace Development To Host Pizza-Eating Contest

Famous Famiglia and The Food & Shops at LaGuardia are staging their first pizza eating contest for airport employees Nov. 19 in the Central Terminal’s Food & Shops on the lower level.

Employees registered for the contest Oct. 22 at the Famous Famiglia location at the lower level food court. Six “eaters” will be selected for the competition by John Kolaj, co-founder and chief operating officer, based on a private interviewing process. The first-place winner will receive $1,000, second place will win $500 and third place will win $250.

The contest will also benefit the community. Famous Famiglia will make a matching $1,000 first-place donation to City Harvest, the world’s first food rescue organization, dedicated to feeding the city’s hungry men, women and children. There will also be a canned-food drive at the terminal during the event.

“In these difficult times, it is more important than ever for Famous Famiglia to find fun and meaningful ways to conduct business,” Kolaj says. “We’re pleased to be able to give back to the LaGuardia community and to help City Harvest feed the hungry this winter season.”

Lillian tan, vice president and general manager of MarketPlace Development, says the company is thrilled to team up with Famous Famiglia on the contest.

“It’s an exciting way to create a sense of fun and community among the employees of the airport while supporting a worthy cause,” she says. “We applaud the Famous Famiglia team for bringing this event to our airport.”
