Cleveland-Hopkins International (CLE) is asking artists to submit proposals for its changing art exhibit in two of its concourses
The themes for the changing exhibit will reflect the Northeast Ohio region’s diversity and arts community. Deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. March 12.
“As with the Terrazzo art project, the changing art exhibit is meant to showcase the many talented artists in the Northeast Ohio region,” says Airport Director Ricky Smith. “These temporary art exhibit locations will be in high passenger traffic areas and be seen by upwards of 30,000 airport users daily.”
The locations in the airport featuring the changing artwork will include the wall display area at the entrance to Concourse A and two locations in the Concourse D tunnel: a wall display and a floor area with eight standing pieces.
Requirements for submission include a completed and signed CLE Temporary Art Exhibit Program application; a CD with digital photos of the exhibit; the theme for which the artist is submitting; a written statement explaining how the exhibit relates to the them; and a self-addressed, stamped envelope if the artist wants the proposal returned.
Judging will be based on capturing the vision of the theme; cultural, educational and/or artistic merit; originality, imagination and presentation of content; and feasibility of the proposal.

Cheeburger Cheeburger and Subway recently opened at the AIRMALL® at CLE.

The 900 sq. ft. Cheeburger Cheeburger, operated by Robinson Hill CH Inc., is in the Main Terminal Food Court. The 1950s-style burger restaurant offers 100 percent Angus beef, milkshakes, French fries and onion rings.
Subway, in 915 sq. ft. on Concourse D, offers made-to-order sandwiches. It is operated by franchisees Deb and Joe Lukasik.
And starting in February, shoppers will have another option, when Swatch opens on Concourse C.
