Areas Wins Dining, Retail Contract At ALC

Areas has been awarded nine restaurants and three retail shops at Alicante International (ALC).

The restaurants are part of an eight-year contract; the retail, five.

“This new contract is a significant culmination of the presence of Áreas in Spanish airports and it bolsters our leadership as a provider of comprehensive services to travelers on the move,” says Peter Fontana, president of Áreas. “The international nature and strategic location of El Altet airport require it to have the type of premium services which we already provide in other airports such as Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga and Los Angeles (California).”

The restaurants are designed to reflect the area, with local recipes and products. Chef Quique Dacosta, who holds two Michelin stars at the restaurant that bears his name in Denia, will create a restaurant offering Mediterranean cuisine. The other restaurants will offer local, traditional specialty products. Areas has also signed an agreement with a company representing Alicante wines to be offered at the airport.

Other dining concepts include Carling, an English pub; Caé±as y Tapas, specializing in typical dishes; Subway; Rodilla, offering sandwiches; and La Pausa, a brasserie-grill concept offering grilled meat and fish. There will also be several coffee concepts, including Illy, Caffriccio and Starbucks. Ars will offer a variety of options.

For retail options, there will be News & Books; Story Store and Tuc Tuc, offering children’s products, and Travel Mate y Cottet, selling travel accessories and sunglasses.
