MarketPlace Development Wins DCA, IAD Management Contract

MarketPlace Development will become the new concessions management
company for both Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) and Washington
Dulles International (IAD). According to officials of the Metropolitan
Washington Airports Authority, MarketPlace will be responsible for
marketing, leasing and managing both programs. There are no investment
requirements in the contract.

MWAA says each proposal was evaluated on five primary criterion
including the financial offer; development and implementation plans;
property management, marketing advertising and promotion plans;
background, experience and financial capabilities; and proposed
management and key staff experience.

“Marketplace Development demonstrated broad experience with the ability
to create a concessions program at both Reagan National and Dulles
International Airports that would meet the authority’s goals of
superior customer service and satisfaction, a strong commitment to
local and DBE businesses, and optimizing sales and revenue to the
authority,” says Tara Hamilton, a spokeswoman for MWAA.

The contract encompasses a significant amount of concessions space. DCA
has 94 locations and 66,980 sq. ft. of space; IAD has 103 locations and
78,347 sq. ft. of space.

“Our immediate priority is to put our team in place to work with MWAA
staff to provide leasing, marketing and management services that will
provide the traveling public at DCA  and IAD with the very best in
food, beverage, retail and concessions services,” says Paul McGinn,
president of MarketPlace.
