Thella Bowens, president and CEO of the San Diego Airport Authority, has been named first vice chair of the board of Airports Council International-North America.
The appointment was effective Sept. 29 for the duration of the 2011 board year. Traditionally, first vice presidents of ACI-NA move into the role of president after a year. The announcement of president will come at the 2011 ACI-NA annual conference and exhibition, which will be in San Diego in October 2011. Bowens has also served as secretary/treasurer of the board.
Bowens also serves on the ACI World Board and the American Association of Airport Executives Policy Review Committee, and is also a member of the boards of the San Diego World Trade Center, the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation, the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of San Diego Campaign Cabinet Team.
ACI-NA represents local, regional and state governing bodies that own and operate commercial airports in the United States and Canada.
