PHX Agrees To Enter Into Licensing Agreement With Wireless Carriers

Phoenix Sky Harbor International (PHX) has agreed to enter into new licensing agreements with four cell phone service providers: New Cingular Wireless PCS LLC; Sprint Spectrum LP; T-Mobile West Corp.; and Verizon Wireless LLC dba Verizon Wireless

Under the agreement, each license will have a five-year term with two one-year renewal options, which can be exercised at the sole discretion of the aviation director.

In addition, licensees will pay a base annual rent of $50,000 per cellular site, and rent will increase every year by 3%.

Licensees will also be allowed to lease additional space within airport terminals based on availability, and they will pay the terminal rate established in City Code, Chapter Four for the space.

Finally, licensees will be able to terminate or reduce their cellular sites by giving 90 days’ written notice to the city and upon consent of both parties.

Other terms and conditions deemed necessary by the city also may be in the licenses.
