Norton Sound Seafood House, which showcases the fisheries, resources and small-boat fisherman of Northwest Alaska, has docked at Ted Stevens Anchorage International (ANC).
HMSHost Corp. and Alaska’s Norton Sound Economic Development Corp. joined forces to bring the one-of-a-kind, locally themed seafood restaurant to the airport.
“We are very pleased to offer visitors the local flavor they look forward to enjoying when they visit our great state,” says John Parrott, airport manager at ANC. “Norton Sound Seafood House is an outstanding new addition to our food and beverage program.”
The menu focuses on locally caught seafood, with offerings created by television personality Chef Al Levinsohn. Dishes include Chef Al’s Alaskan Crab Po Boy, Original Ale battered Halibut Po Boy and King Crab Dinner. There is also a full bar featuring locally brewed beer, wine and cocktails.
The 4,125 sq. ft. restaurant, which can be found on Concourse C, is designed to serve travelers both pre- and post-security, with seating for 122 in the post-security main dining area, and seating for 14 in the pre-security grab-and-go section.
“HMSHost really enjoys making the traveler’s day better at Anchorage International Airport with this flavorful variety of popular restaurants and pubs,” says Stephen Douglas, vice president of business development with HMSHost. “We also could not be more pleased to support the local community in partnership with Norton Sound Economic Development Corp.”
The NSEDC is a local, non-profit corporation whose goals are to support local fisheries and provide economic development through education, employment, training and financial assistance to its 15 member communities.
“NSEDC is excited to have the opportunity to partner the world-class crab, halibut and salmon of the Norton Sound region with the extensive experience and knowledge of HMSHost,” says Janis Ivanoff, NSEDC’s CEO. “The Norton Sound Seafood House offers our state’s visitors and residents alike the quality seafood that Alaska and the Norton Sound are so well-known for.”
