McDonald’s, CKE Restaurants Win Concessions Contracts At SNA

The Orange County Board of Supervisors has awarded two more concessions contracts at John Wayne (SNA), this time to McDonald’s USA LLC in Terminals A and B, and CKE Restaurants Inc., parent company of Carl’s Jr.(R) in Terminal C. Both are for 10-year leases.

“McDonald’s has a long-standing relationship with Orange County travelers,” says Alan L. Murphy, airport director. “Not only is it important that our passengers have a variety of dining options, but that they have choices in restaurants they are familiar with and know they can count on.”

McDonald’s has operated at the airport’s Terminals A and B since 1990 and will continue doing so as it changes its store; modifications include more space and adding menu items. In addition, new menu items from the McCafe menu will be available at the airport locations when the new stores open, slated to be later this year.

“We are extremely excited to continue serving the tried-and-true McDonald’s menu alongside the fresh and new McCafe line of specialty coffees, frappes and real fruit smoothies,” says Isabelle Villasenor, owner/operator of McDonald’s at SNA. “By introducing McCafe to our John Wayne Airport restaurants, my daughters and I hope to provide more options to travelers on the go. I look forward to a long and successful partnership with John Wayne Airport and hope to create a travel experience that is one of convenience and comfort.”

At Carl’s Jr., the proposed menu includes breakfast items, charbroiled burgers and chicken sandwiches, children’s meals and Mexican fare with the company’s dual-branded Green Burrito® menu, along with dessert and drinks.

“Carl’s Jr. was founded in Orange County and is well-known by our customers,” Murphy says. “This first-class organization is known throughout the West and will bring an additional quick-service dining option for John Wayne Airport passengers.”

Carl’s Jr. franchisee James Yeung of Brea will operate the restaurant in Terminal C, scheduled to open in late 2011.

“We’re pleased to be bringing Carl’s Jr. to John Wayne Airport in Terminal C,” says Andy Puzder, CEO of CKE Restaurants. “We look forward to offering our premium-quality food to the busy travelers and employees at the airport.”
