Pacific Gateway Enters Joint Venture To Operate 7 Locations At SAN

Pacific Gateway Concessions has signed a lease to develop and operate seven locations at San Diego International (SAN).

The first to open will be KPBS Newsstand in Terminal 1 in December. When construction in Terminals 1 and 2 is finished about 18 months later, other concepts that will be in the mix will include Apricot Lane, Bay Books, Beach House, Kids Love San Diego, US News & World Report and Wheretraveler.

PGC will operate these stores with Gil and Gale Johnson of San Diego, Calif., in a joint venture called PGC-PCI San Diego LLC.

“PGC, in conjunction with our local [Airport Concessionaire Disadvantaged Business Enterprise] partners, PCI, are absolutely delighted to be awarded Package 3 in the retail program in SAN,” says Roderick McOwan, executive vice president of PCG. “As two California-based organizations coming together, we will become part of a very exciting project that will embrace local business and participation, and that subsequently will showcase a wide range of improved retail concessions in the existing and new terminal buildings over the coming 24 months.”
