Tucson Airport Authority Hires Bewley As Director Of Operations

The Tucson Airport Authority has tapped Danette Bewley to be its director of operations.

In the newly created position, Bewley is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal regulations and maintaining emergency preparedness at Tucson International (TUS) and Ryan Airfield through oversight of airfield safety and communications dispatch efforts.

“I entered the aviation industry at birth,” says Bewley, whose father was a Navy fighter pilot and commercial airline pilot for more than 35 years.

Bewley is also a private pilot; she has more than 23 years of experience in the industry, most recently as assistant director of airport economic development for the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. She has also held the director position at Jacksonville International (JAX) and worked in several capacities at San Diego International (SAN).

She holds an Accredited Airport Executive designation from the American Association of Airport Executives and has been a member of its boards of directors and examiners. She earned a bachelor’s degree and two master’s degrees from National University.

“This is an incredible opportunity to work for an airport authority that is respected worldwide for its exceptional leadership and contributions to the aviation industry,” Bewley said.
