A public art display at Miami International (MIA) was honored last month during
the Americans for the Arts Conference in San Antonio, Texas, last month.
The Public Art 2012 Year in Review showcases exemplary public art projects finished between April 2011 and April 2012 in the country. The MIA piece recognized was Christopher Jenney’s “Harmonic Convergence,” an interactive sound environment with diagonal patterns of colored glass that are integrated into the MIA Mover Station Terminal Connector.
“We are proud to receive this prestigious acknowledgment of the quality and creativity of the artists’ projects being commissioned by our program,” says Cindi Nash, chairwoman of the Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places Trust. “It is an important affirmation that Miami-Dade County’s public art program continues be a leader in the nation in making public buildings great through collaborations with outstanding local and national artists.”
Projects were selected from 429 entries, and the top 50 projects were showcased.
