The Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners has given the go-ahead for construction of an American Express Centurion Lounge at Miami International (MIA).
“The new Centurion Lounge will be a welcome addition at MIA, both as a passenger amenity and as an employer of local residents,” says Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “We look forward to the world-class service that American Express is bringing to our global gateway.”
The lounge will be in an 8,000-square-foot space near Gate D-12 in the North Terminal. It will feature locally inspired cuisine and cocktails, a spa with complimentary treatments, and a family room. Card members also will have access to high-speed Wi-Fi, personal computers and noise-buffering workspaces. It is slated to open later this year.
“I’m grateful to Mayor Gimenez and the Board of County Commissioners for supporting this win-win deal for Miami International Airport and our customers,” says MDAD Director Emilio T. Gonzalez. “American Express is a world-class business partner and we’re excited about their new Centurion Lounge at MIA. It will take customer service to an entirely new level and help separate our airport from the rest in this highly competitive business.”
