San Francisco International (SFO) officials are scheduled to unveil a prototype smartphone application this week that can help visually impaired passengers navigate through an airport terminal.
SFO worked with Indoo.rs, a technology company in the field of indoor navigation, to develop a working prototype, which was unveiled at a press conference Tuesday.
The app was developed through San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program. The prototype version being unveiled on Thursday was developed for the iPhone platform, says SFO spokesman Doug Yakel.
