The Gary/Chicago International Airport Authority unanimously approved Delbert Brown as its new airport manager at Gary Chicago International (GYY).
Brown has been serving on an interim basis the past few weeks. He previously was director of Detroit City, now Coleman A. Young (DET), where he was involved in strategic master planning efforts and implementing best practices that improved overall management, security and safety for staff and customers, airport officials say.
He was selected after a nationwide search that was conducted by AvPorts, the airport’s public-private partner. AvPorts has similar relationships with a half-dozen other airports.
“Delbert comes highly recommended by peers, partners and community leaders as someone who is thoughtful, strategic and results-driven,” says Ozzie Moore, president of AvPorts.
Brown will report to Interim Airport Director BR Lane, who oversees AvPorts’ performance as part of the public-private partnership established earlier this year.
