Denver International (DEN) has launched an online system aimed at ensuring lost items are returned to their owners.
The new system allows customers to file digital claims through an online form from anywhere in the world using a phone, tablet or PC, by visiting www.DIALostAndFound.com. The system allows airport officials to catalogue the tens of thousands of items turned in to the Lost and Found department and match them with the online claims.
“From teddy bears and wedding rings to laptops and iPads, we know that every lost item is important to our travelers,” says John Ackerman, chief commercial officer. “We want to return as many lost items as possible, so we are investing in this state-of-the-art system to improve customer service and make the process of reuniting travelers with their valuable possessions easy and quick.”
The system is at least in part a response to increases in lost-and-found items turned in to airport officials – the number doubled between 2005 and 2013, from 20,814 to 43,582.
