Hertz and Panasonic Enterprise Solutions Co. have completed solar power installations at Hertz Rent-a-Car facilities at Denver International (DEN) and Lambert-St. Louis International (STL) and will finish another at Newark Liberty International (EWR) by the end of the year.
John F. Kennedy International’s (JFK) Hertz facility is slated for a solar project in 2015.
Once completed, the total installed solar capacity at the four airports will reach 1 megawatt of clean energy, which will be used to power Hertz customer service areas and other nearby Hertz buildings.
“Hertz has a long-standing goal regarding sustainable business practices, and these new solar installations play an integral part in fulfilling that commitment,” says Todd Poste, executive vice president of supply chain management for the company. “With Hertz’ latest solar expansion, we will increase our renewable energy generation while continuing to reduce costs companywide.”
