BART Air-Rail Connection Opening At OAK

Bay Area Rapid Transit has announced its intent to open its latest connection at Oakland International (OAK) on Nov. 22.

The Oakland International Airport Station is located just in front of terminal buildings. It will offer a seamless, single-ticket connection to all of BART’s 45 stations throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Trains will depart every five minutes during peak periods from Monday through Friday. It will replace the Air BART bus, which was utilized by 7.5 percent of the roughly 10 million annual passengers at OAK.

“We couldn’t be more pleased that the completion of this project comes in time for the busy holiday travel season at OAK,” says Deborah Ale Flint, director of aviation for the Port of Oakland. “At long last, Bay Area residents can experience the ease, convenience and certainty of using BART with the same values they appreciate when making OAK their airport of choice.”

Construction on this project began in 2010.
