Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (ATL) has received Travel + Leisure magazine’s 2014 Global Vision Leadership Award for its success in reducing energy consumption throughout the airport and its commitment to being green.
ATL was the only airport to receive an award from the publication, which recognizes hotels, tour operators, airlines and innovators that are transforming the world.
“It is an honor to receive” the award, says Miguel Southwell, general manager at ATL. “While we are currently recognized as being the world’s busiest and most efficient airport, we are committed to adding greenest to our accolades.”
In presenting the award, Travel + Leisure noted ATL’s new international terminal’s Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design status and its significant reduction in per-passenger footprint. For the full list of winners, visit www.travelandleisure.com/articles/global-vision-awards-2014.
