Global Entry Option Available At Oakland International

Travelers to Oakland International (OAK) arriving on international flights will now have the option of speeding their arrival into the U.S. by using one of two Global Entry kiosks in the international arrivals hall.

Global Entry speeds up the process for enrollees by allowing them to bypass traditional U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspection lanes by using the automated kiosk to complete their admission. Travelers scan their passport and fingerprints, answer Customs declaration questions using the kiosk’s touch screen and proceed with a receipt to the exit.

“With the addition of four new international routes in just the past 12 months and more coming, Oakland International Airport is gearing up to welcome more international travelers with an arrival experience that makes a good impression for U.S. visitors and Bay Area residents returning home,” says Deborah Ale Flint, director of aviation for the Port of Oakland.

The airport also expects to have automated passport readers in place this summer to further speed the arrivals process. OAK has up to 28 international flights arriving weekly from points in Mexico, Norway and Sweden.
