IAD To Host Wings For All Airport Travel Rehearsal Event

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, in conjunction with airport partners and the Arc of Northern Virginia, will host Wings For All on Nov. 7 to simulate airport travel experiences for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The goal of the event is to remove anxiety and surprise from the airport experience for people with special needs. More than 50 participants and their families have registered to attend.

Wings For All will take place at Washington Dulles International (IAD) with United Airlines. Participants will be guided through various airport procedures, such as checking in at a ticket counter, going through security, finding airline gates and boarding a real plane. A flight simulation also will be included, after which the group will practice picking up luggage in baggage claim.
