Employees of concessionaire HMSHost Corp. and passengers who have traveled through one of a half-dozen airports are eligible to participate in the company’s “Channel Your Inner Chef” competition.
The company invites “aspiring culinarians” to enter the recipe contest, which requires competitors to submit a five-minute video of themselves preparing their favorite original recipe.
A panel of experts will select five finalists from the entries. They will all be awarded a trip to Chicago to compete in a cook-off in front of a live audience and a panel of judges at Chicago O’Hare International (ORD).
Participating airports include ORD, John F. Kennedy International (JFK), Charlotte Douglas International (CLT), Los Angeles International (LAX), Ronald Reagan Washington National (DCA) and Minneapolis-St. Paul International (MSP). The event aims to spotlight local flavor and celebrate HMSHost’s sponsorship of the 2016 James Beard Awards.
“Building on the success of last year’s event, we expanded the contest to travelers and employees of other major airport hubs as an opportunity to spotlight their talent in front of a live audience,” says Atousa Ghoreichi, vice president of marketing. “Each city offers its own hub of culinary talent, and the Channel Your Inner Chef event is a great way to celebrate not only our 2016 James Beard Award sponsorship, but also bring together culinary innovation found throughout the U.S.”
The winning dish will be featured on the menu of an HMSHost-operated restaurant at ORD.
