The Position – President & CEO (CEO)
The Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC) is looking for an experienced executive to serve as its President & CEO. The CEO will lead AMAC’s finance, budgeting, strategic planning, fundraising, program planning and development efforts. We are looking for a seasoned executive whose familiarity with aviation industry and its associated business diversity programs is such that he or she is able to plan, organize, implement and direct activities of the association around these initiatives. The successful candidate will also have experience in driving strategic planning initiatives, including goal-setting, developing metrics and motivating employees to achieve goals.
The position requires extensive interaction with AMAC’s Board of Directors, AMAC members, corporate sponsors, and financial institutions. A comfort and ability to manage public exposure, interface with state, federal and local governmental agencies and their governing bodies, as well as the general public is a necessity. Keeping these important factors in mind, experience and skill in gaining consensus, collaboration and teambuilding is a must.
Above all the President & CEO is essential in maintaining continuity of activities and programs across transitioning Board Members, executing the organization’s vision and setting its financial course. The experienced candidate will be able to successfully develop and implement fundraising strategies that support the mission and vision of AMAC.
Education, Qualifications & Experience
Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university with a degree in public affairs, public administration, business administration or related field; a Master’s degree in business or public management or administration is preferred. The successful candidate will also have a strong background in either not-for-profit, non-profit or social sector organization management with at least 3-10 years of highly responsible and senior level experience in fundraising, lobbying, finance, budgeting, and program development. Experience in the supervision and management of professional employees is also required.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding and grasp of federal regulations impacting airport construction and concession programs; strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy dealing with elected officials, AMAC Board and AMAC members; and budget development and management skills, coupled with strong fundraising skills. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational and management skills and familiarity with the dynamics of non-profit organization management. A solid understanding of the principles, practices and philosophies of the aviation industry, airport management and business administration is ideal. The successful candidate will be an accomplished communicator, orally and in writing with the ability to build and sustain effective relationships with all stakeholders.
