Commercial Manager Opening At LaGuardia Airport

The Commercial Manager will lead, implement and manage retail and commercial development at the Central Terminal Building LaGuardia Airport in order to maximize non-aeronautical revenue opportunities, enhance the Terminal’s competitive position and improve the customer experience.  The individual holding this position will develop and implement business improvement plans to optimise non-aeronautical performance and maximise revenue through new, and emerging technology, strategies for commercial operations within the Central Terminal Building.

The Commercial Manager will report directly to the Chief Commercial Officer.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement successful commercial and retail plans, and promotional programs, within the Central Terminal Building to achieve maximum performance, drive annual sales growth and increase revenues
  • Create, introduce and manage strategies and systems to understand the current travel retail environment, trends and influences on customer buying patterns with a view to product range development and increased revenue
  • Negotiate, and/or support negotiations, for commercial activity; lead the preparation of commercial offers, leases, licenses and agreements, procure and manage administration of all subcontracts relating to retail commercial activities in the Central Terminal Building
  • Work with LGP’s Project Management Team on commercial tenant concept, design and construction requirements within the new Central Terminal Building; responsibilities include, but not limited to the approval of tenant designs; the review of tenant schedule submissions: and, overseeing tenant space fit-out
  • Foster a performance driven culture with respect to commercial operations; introduce and monitor commercial performance by establishing and using suitable KPIs benchmarked against other airports, terminals & comparable off-airport facilities
  • Play an instrumental role in developing annual business plans and creating budgets as it relates to the Commercial Department
  • Establish, manage and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including local government, regulatory agencies, airlines, vendors, sub-concession partners, consumer groups and the airport community
  • Lead and mentor commercial employees, work collaboratively across the organization to drive optimal results, encourage strong employee morale and create a positive workplace culture

Education and Experience

  • Experience developing and implementing technology based strategies and systems to gain insight and drive performance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Commercial Management
  • Three or more years of experience providing leadership and management to direct and indirect reports
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Marketing or other related area
