HMSHost Teams Up With Kallpod To Enhance Service

HMSHost Corp. now has an exclusive agreement with Kallpod, a service industry communication tool, with the goal of improving speed and efficiency in Host’s restaurants.

The Kallpods are small circular pods with three buttons and are placed on dining tables. Customers can then push one of the buttons to request a particular type of service. A wireless communications system sends alerts to employees wearing “Kallwatches,” which are watches that show what services customers are requesting and give updates from the hosts and the kitchen.

“The airport environment is driven largely by time, and fast, accurate service is important to travelers visiting an airport restaurant,” says Jim Schmitz, president of innovation for Host. “By forming this partnership with Kallpod, travelers dining at HMSHost restaurants will have more control over their time and will leave having had a better overall experience.”

An initial launch has Kallpod in select restaurants in Dallas/Fort Worth International (DFW), Miami International (MIA) and Minneapolis-St. Paul International (MSP). The company plans to eventually implement the tool in many of the 80 airports it operates in.
