No. 99 Gretzky’s Wine & Whisky, a collaboration between HMSHost Corp. and Wayne Gretzky, is now open at Edmonton International (YEG).
“With his profound effect on the global and local hockey scene, you simply can’t think Edmonton without Wayne Gretzky, making No. 99 Gretzky’s Wine & Whisky a natural addition to Edmonton International Airport,” says Kent Vanden Oever, vice president of business development at Host. “We are honored to partner with Wayne Gretzky and Edmonton International Airport to spotlight this legend’s great wine, whisky and food in a fantastic, relaxing atmosphere for the world travelers that go through the airport on a daily basis.”
The restaurant’s wine list features selections from around the world, with focus on wines from the Wayne Gretzky Estates in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. Gretzky’s recently released No. 99 ‘Red Cask’ Canadian Whisky is also available. It is made with locally sourced grains and distilled, matured, blended and finished in red wine casks from his winery.
The menu includes perogies, penne ragu, Polish sausage, a grilled steak salad and the roasted Canadian Halibut. Kid’s and breakfast menus are also available.
“Wayne Gretzky is clearly an iconic part of Edmonton’s history, and having Gretzky’s Wine & Whisky right here in the heart of Canada’s fastest-growing major airport means that we’ll be able to add great food and great service to that Edmonton legacy into the future,” says Tom Ruth, president and CEO of YEG.
