MEM Has New Guidelines For Carrying Alcoholic Beverages

Memphis International (MEM) is getting ready to implement new rules on carrying alcoholic beverages throughout the airport.

On March 1, the airport’s new beer permit and liquor-by-the-drink license will go into effect, allowing travelers to carry a drink while they shop in the terminal or wait at their gates. The new guidelines will apply to beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages sold at restaurants located past the security checkpoints.

Concessionaires have received special cups to identify the beverage and the restaurant where it was purchased. News signs and messaging throughout the airport will inform passengers of the new rules.

“As the number of passengers we serve continues to grow, we will continue to look for new ways to improve the passenger experience here,” says Scott Brockman, Memphis Shelby County Airport Authority president and CEO. “We’re pleased to be able to offer our customers this added convenience while they wait for their flights at MEM.”
