LGA Gateway Partners Selects HMSHost, SSP America For First New Restaurants At LGA

SSP America and HMSHost Corp. will each play a role in overhauling the food offerings at LaGuardia Airport (LGA).

The food and beverage companies were announced as winners by LaGuardia Gateway Partners, the private entity operating and redeveloping LaGuardia Airport’s (LGA) Terminal B.

The new dining options will be located in the eastern concourse of the new terminal and they will open later this year.

“We’re so proud to work with these strong operators to create a guest experience worthy of the greatest city in the world,” says Ed Baklor, chief commercial officer at LaGuardia Gateway Partners. “Each new offering in Terminal B reflects New York’s history and tradition and will highlight local businesses and drive the Queens economy.”

HMSHost will bring:

  • Osteria Fusco
  • Shake Shack
  • LaChula Bar and Taqueria

HMSHost will work with two New York chefs as part of its offerings. LaChula will be in tandem with Julian Medina, while Osteria Fusco brings restaurateur Scott Conant to LGA.

SSP America will bring:

  • Irving Farm Coffee Roasters
  • Kingside Bar and Restaurant
  • 5 Boroughs Food Emporium

Pat Murray, executive vice president of SSP America, says the company is honored to play its role. “The redevelopment of one of the country’s most renowned airports is a significant moment in American aviation history, heralding one of the largest public-private partnership projects ever undertaken for a new transportation infrastructure in the United States,” he says. “SSP America recognizes the magnitude of this momentous project.”

Steve Johnson, HMSHost’s CEO and president, adds: “HMSHost is extremely excited to be a part of creating an unprecedented culinary travel experience in LaGuardia Airport’s new state-of-the-art Terminal B. This is such an important travel hub to the nation and we thank LaGuardia Gateway Partners for this valuable opportunity.”

Along with the mix of New York brands and products, each company partnered with Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprises to offer local and small businesses the opportunity to showcase their products.

The first retail shops will be announced soon too. More than 50 restaurants will debut throughout the overall redevelopment of Terminal B, which is a $5.1 billion, 1.3-million-square-foot redevelopment of the iconic terminal. The new building will replace the existing Central Terminal Building. This project is part of an overall $8 billion redevelopment of the entirety of LaGuardia, which was unveiled in 2015 by Gov. Andrew Cuomo.
