Eng to Leave Top Toronto Airport Post in 2020

Howard Eng, who has led the Greater Toronto Airport Authority (GTAA) for the past eight years, announced plans to retire in 2020.
Eng has been an airport executive for four decades. Prior to taking over at Toronto Pearson International, he served as Executive Director, Airport Operations at Hong Kong International.

In announcing the pending retirement, David Wilson, GTAA Board chair says of Eng, “He has not only led Toronto Pearson to new heights, both in terms of our worldwide connectivity and the service that we provide to our valued passengers, but he has also fostered a business-like atmosphere with customers, which in turn has contributed to the airport’s strong performance.”

The GTAA Board says it has already started the succession process and plans to conduct an international search, considering both internal and external candidates. Management consultant firm Korn Ferry will oversee the search.

“Consistent with the commitment that Howard has shown to the GTAA throughout his tenure here, he has graciously agreed to stay on to ensure a smooth and orderly handover to his successor,” Wilson says.
