Chad Newton has been named CEO of the Wayne Country Airport Authority, which oversees Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW), making permanent his previous status as interim CEO.
Newton took over as interim CEO in July 2018 from Genelle Allen, who had been serving in the interim post since January of last year. Joseph Nardone, the last permanent CEO, left in January 2018 to lead John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH)
Newton has been employed by the airport for more than 20 years, primarily in the area of law enforcement. He first began work at the airport as part Wayne County Airport Police Department and rose through the ranks to become Airport Authority’s vice president of public safety.
“Safety and security is one of the biggest concerns at any major airport,” Newton says. “I look forward to using my knowledge and experience as our team continues to improve the customer experience, collaborate with our stakeholders, support small businesses and give back to our community.”
Newton’s contract, which runs for three years, takes effect immediately.
