Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) has announced the completion of its renovated Concourse B.
The $13.5 million project touched nearly every corner of the concourse. It brought to Concourse B new wall panels, a fresh coat of paint and 1,600 LED lights. HVAC, electrical, fire alarm and sprinkler systems were also upgraded, with the restrooms seeing new sinks, counters and touchless features.
“We are thrilled with the outcome,” says Brent Cagle, CLT’s aviation director and CEO. “It’s a complete change from floor to ceiling. The renovations provide a state-of-the-art facility that creates a top-notch traveling experience for our passengers.”
The concourse renovation began in September of 2017, with upgrades to the other terminals beginning a year later, which are now on-track to see completion in 2020. All the renovations are part of the Destination CLT initiative that involves nigh-$3 billion in investments to refurbish and expand the airport’s facilities.
Renovations are underway on CLT’s two other concourses, as well. Work began on Concourse A in September 2018 with completion slated for early 2020. Concourse C has been under construction since January with those projects expected to be done in spring 2020.
As part of Destination CLT, a $2.5 billion to $3.1 billion investment program that will refurbish the 37-year-old terminal’s concourses, expand roadways and curb fronts and add nine gates to Concourse A, the airport’s atrium will also be refreshed.
