Fraport Wins Concessions Management Contract At EWR Terminal B

The Board of Commissioners of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has selected Fraport USA, a major U.S. airport developer, to manage concessions operations at Newark Liberty International Airport’s (EWR)’s Terminal B.

Under a five-year agreement set to go into effect February 1, 2020, Fraport will be responsible for managing approximately 47,000 square feet of Terminal B concessions space, as well as the loading dock and storage facilities that support these operations. Fraport is replacing Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) Airports as Terminal B concessions manager.

Newark Liberty’s Terminal B houses some 30 specialty retailers, restaurants, and a duty-free store catering to the airport’s growing domestic and international passenger traffic. PANYNJ said it had introduced 22 New Jersey-centric shopping and dining destinations to Terminal B customers in 2019.

The Terminal B contract award follows an intensive competitive bid and review process by the PANYNJ, which owns and operates Newark’s Terminal B.

“We are committed to our partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey,” says Brett Kelly, Fraport USA’s interim CEO. “Together, we share the vision of enhancing operations and delivering vibrant retail experiences for the passengers at Newark Liberty. At the same time, we are proud to expand our role within the largest airport system in the United States.”

Port Authority executive director, Rick Cotton, noted Fraport’s reputation in bringing a strategic mix of high-quality brands to its facilities. “While we look forward to working with Fraport, we also thank URW for its partnership in helping transform Terminal B into a unique dining and retail experience for our customers,” he said.
