SFO Consolidates International Flights

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) says it is consolidating all flight activity in the International Terminal to a single concourse, beginning Wednesday April 1st, 2020 due to reduced demand caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

The airport says Boarding Area A, which contains Gates A1 – A15, will be closed, and all flights in the International Terminal will depart from Boarding Area G, Gates G1 – G14. The move will enable SFO to close one security checkpoint and consolidate checkpoint screening staff.

It will also allow Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to consolidate to a single point of entry for international arrivals, ease passenger connectivity to the SFO Domestic Terminal 3 and consolidate essential services within the airport, including food and beverage

SFO says it will keep the SFO Medical Clinic, Grand Hyatt hotel at SFO and the International Parking Garage A open going forward.

“By April 1st, international flights at SFO will have been reduced by 52 percent,” the airport says in a statement.
