The Port of Oakland this week announced that Craig Simon has been named the new assistant director of aviation – operations for Oakland International Airport (OAK), where his duties will include planning, organizing and directing the day-to-day operations of the airport.
Simon has been at OAK for eight years and served as interim assistant director since February 2020. He formally takes over his new role October 17.
Prior to joining OAK, Simon worked for Norman Y. Mineta San José International Airport (SJC) for 11 years, holding multiple positions where he managed airside activities, airport operations, noise abatement, ground transportation, and parking control.
“I am very honored and excited for the opportunity to fill the role of assistant director of aviation at Oakland International Airport,” said Simon. “With the exceptional staff, we will be able to continue to build upon the outstanding work that has already occurred and continue to grow OAK into the future.”
Simon was appointed following a national search conducted by ADK Consulting & Executive Search, a retained consulting and search firm based in Jacksonville, Florida.
