San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and County of San Mateo have partnered on a week-long pilot program to offer COVID-19 vaccines at the airport’s long-term parking garage.
The drive-through vaccination center for healthcare workers and those more than 65 years old is available by appointment only and is part of a test to determine if the 3,109-space garage could be suitable as a mass-vaccination site for parts of the San Francisco area.
Thus far thousands of county residents have received the vaccine at the SFO location and county officials indicated tests could be scaled up as more vaccines become available.
“We are proud to partner with San Mateo County Health to support the ongoing distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine,” said Ivar Satero. SFO director. “Defeating this pandemic requires collaboration across multiple agencies, and we hope to be a vital resource to our health officials.”
