YYC Mandates Vaccines for All Employees

The Calgary Airport Authority, operator of Calgary International Airport (YYC), announced to its 250 valued employees that the organization will be implementing a mandatory vaccination policy, requiring all airport and authority workers be vaccinated against COVID-19 by November 15.

The Authority has outlined a policy that requires all employees to disclose vaccination status, provides alternative protocols for unvaccinated and partially-vaccinated employees, such as weekly COVID-19 tests, and features process to seek accommodation for those unable to receive the vaccine based on protected grounds under the Canadian Human Rights Act.

Contractors and in-terminal partners will also be informed of the mandatory vaccination policy and required to have a similar policy in place or defer to the Authority’s policy for compliance.

“The Authority and its employees remain committed to creating a safe environment for our guests and doing our part to support the health and safety of our community,” said Bob Sartor, Authority president and CEO. “It was an easy decision grounded in our commitment to be a customer-focused and resilient organization. This policy is an essential part of helping our airport get back to normal as quickly as possible.”

The Authority is looking into organizing vaccination clinics at YYC to ensure employees have easy access to appointments.
