Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) said this week it is partnering with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower organization to introduce a Sunflower Lanyard Program so airport staff can better identify and assist passengers with hidden disabilities such as autism, chronic pain, anxiety and visual/hearing impairment.
By wearing a Hidden Disabilities sunflower ribbon, lanyard, pin, bracelet or other accessories available free of cost at locations throughout the airport, it signals to CLT employees that time, patience and kindness may be needed.
“This is such a great program that we’re more than happy to provide the traveling public,” said Haley Gentry, CLT CEO and aviation director “We want everyone who flies through CLT to have a positive experience. Our employees can now easily spot passengers who may require additional support and accommodate their needs in way that allows them to have a quality travel experience.”
