Amsterdam-headquartered BagsID this week announced the appointment of Dave Bakker as chief executive officer of the image-based baggage recognition technology company. Bakker comes to BagsID from SITA, where he most recently served as senior vice-president, global services and as president for the European Region. Prior to that, Bakker has worked in various sales and leadership roles at DELL Technologies.
“I am delighted to welcome Dave on board,” said Marlon van der Meer, founder of BagsID. “His leadership skills, understanding of the industry, experience and energy will be instrumental to achieve our ambitious goal of becoming a market leader in AI based baggage processing in the aviation industry.”
BagsID has developed the first image-based baggage solution for the airline industry by means of leveraging computer vision technology, providing valuable insights to airports and airlines to increase their performance and capacity.
“I am excited to join the BagsID team and take our revolutionary technology to market and change the way bags are handled within the industry,” said Bakker. “BagsID’s mission is ‘better air travel with no-tag bags’ which will deliver significant benefits for airlines, ground handlers, airports and most importantly, for passengers. I look forward to working with our global partners to provide these capabilities to the aviation industry.”
